Electrical Engineer - Smart Grid Testbed

Candidate to provide support to our federal customer to contribute to the design, continuing evolution, operations, and use of the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Testbed for applications such as:
(1) measurement of system-level smart grid performance including end-to-end device characterization,
(2) characterization and measurement of key components, standards, and protocols to enhance the flexibility of smart grid systems to accommodate new technologies and devices. The position is based out of our customer site in Gaithersburg, MD.
Provide support in conducting measurement science research on smart grid controllability and stability in the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Testbed, within the Smart Grid and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Program Support evaluation tasks in situation frame extraction.
Support researchers in integrating the capabilities of the expanded testbed into multiple projects.
Assisting staff in the commissioning of the expanded facility.
Provide reports to the Smart Grid Testbed Team that are complete and relevant, with realistic, achievable recommendations. These reports should be at least 5-7 pages.
Experience in research, development, and/or adoption of standards, metrics, or testing tools for advanced smart-grid systems in topic areas such as design and measurement methods for distribution grid operations, control of grid resources, modeling and simulation of complex systems, advanced network and communication technologies, modularity and compositionality for complex power systems, and advanced testbeds for grid systems.
Experience in laboratory safety.
Experience with experimental design and implementation.
Experience in MatLAB and LabView.
Ability to describe technical information in simple, clear language.
Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
Ability to work independently as well as with other team members.
