Job Description
We are seeking a Program Manager to work out of our Manassas, VA office.
This person will be working on a fast-paced, integrated product development team responsible for the overall performance of the assigned program. The Program Manager is expected to provide leadership within the program team as well as externally by interfacing with customers and external partners. The work involves program management activities supporting multiple US Navy program offices, industry, subcontractors as well as Progeny engineers. The Program Manager will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to established deadlines and contract requirements. The Program Manager directs activities of the project, works directly with project resources on tasking, monitors project status, assists in resolution of project issues, interfaces with functional area management, and creates related project documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Overall responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of programs to ensure project contractual work products are delivered on time and within budget.
• Serve as the main interface with customers and subcontractors.
• Works with Business Area Managers to understand company goals and requirements for assigned programs.
• Manages technical and support staff and provides ongoing direction to ensure program performance.
• Develops and monitors program plan and schedule, including establishment of and routine reporting on the technical performance, financial status, and program risks and issues.
• Identifies program problems and issues, and coordinates with the customers, Business Area Managers, and Chief Engineers to obtain solutions.
• Works with Engineering Managers to maintain proper staffing levels and ensure appropriate experience levels are consistent with current and projected program activities.
• Reviews reports and briefings prepared by staff for quality and compliance to contract requirements.
• Leads discussions for program reviews (travel anticipated).
• Prepares and delivers formal briefings (travel anticipated).
• Complies with quality assurance and security procedures in the performance of duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Leadership and program management experience, including contractual and financial management, as evidenced by previous experience.
• Experience leading development efforts (required) and production efforts (a plus) for critical mission systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Experienced with MS Office and related software applications.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree and 5+ years required/10+ years preferred of related experience
