Job Description:
- Our client is looking for a multidisciplinary engineer who can engage in all phases of design, development and operation of the next iteration of robotic systems.
- This role is Robotics Control Software and Systems Engineer.
The team's mandate is to design, develop, and operate the next iteration of robotic manipulation systems within the Amazon fulfillment network. - This includes controls development and debugging for novel motion systems, building new workflows and orchestration, new operator UIs, implementing and executing bring-up processes, and integrating your systems into cross-functional software systems.
- As a robotics engineer, you will help plan the development milestones, design and implement control features, and monitor operation in our robotic fleet.

- You will play an active role in translating business requirements into concrete systems and prototyping concepts in partnership with technology leaders within the team and across the business.
You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including CodeSys, EtherCAT, structured text, and object-oriented languages such as Python or C++. - You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and will have the opportunity to work alongside talented engineers to redefine an industry.
Key job responsibilities:
- You will drive key engineering decisions that impact device management for fulfillment sites globally.
- You will implement, deploy, and debug motion control systems including material handling systems, custom robotic grippers, and high-performance custom robotic systems.
- You will partner with other team members such as robotics software engineers, SDMs, applied scientists, and product managers.
A day in the life:
The engineer for this role will:
- Work hands-on with the robotics team onsite in the laboratory in Boston with occasional trips to observe and support robots in our pilot locations.
- Engage in all phases of product development lifecycle from design to final integration and field support.
- Run experiments, collect data, and develop new features that are critical to the program's success.
Basic Qualifications:
Need To Have Relevant Experience with The Following:
- Analyzing Allen-Bradley functions and then creating that code within a Siemens PLC.
- Rewrite the PLC programs in Siemens TIA Portal, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and other relevant programming languages supported by Siemens.
- 2-3 years of control systems engineering
- 2+ years of motion controls experience, e.G. Material handling systems, actuated systems, etc.
- 2+ years developing solutions on a variety of platforms such as Siemens/Rockwell. Experience with block formats, microcontrollers, PCs, and mobile devices
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Controls or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with modern object-oriented languages such as C++ or Python.
- Experience with code version control, e.G. Git, svn, or Code Commit.
- Experience with industrial robot arms or custom actuated hardware systems
