Job Title
: Technical Product Owner

Location: Waltham Massachusetts 02781 (Remote but must work EST times)

Onsite Requirements:
  • Banking industry experience
  • Technical background (came up through software development, QA or in a technical business analyst role)
  • Heavy background managing PBI's, breaking down Epics.


Experience:
  • Priority for candidates that have banking industry experience, especially Fair Lending, CRA/HMDA.
  • 3-5 years Business Analyst type role, Product Management role or equivalent experience.


Job Description
:
  • The Technical Product Manager is a member of product management who represents the voice of the customer and is responsible for working with Product Managers and other stakeholders-including other Technical Product Managers and the agile teams-to define and prioritize the product backlogs for complex, high-profile products, so that the solution effectively addresses business needs while maintaining technical integrity.
  • The Technical Product Manager is a key role at Client Financial Services and will have overall product backlog accountability and decision-making responsibility.
  • He or she understands the customers and potential customers as well as the broader industry.
  • He or she works closely with Product Managers to understand Epics and their features to represent business need in the agile process.
  • He or she also fills the Product Owner role and is a member of an Agile Team. Employees in this position must be competent in the Software Development Life Cycle and have a solid understanding of current products and technology.
  • The Technical Product Manager must exhibit strong leadership and conflict resolution skills in order to guide their team in successfully designing, negotiating, and implementing solutions to meet the business needs.

The main activities of the role are:
  • Maintain the Product Backlog in support of the product roadmap.
  • Detailed understanding and working knowledge of the product.
  • Detailed understanding of new features prioritized for the product.
  • Determine the business value and/or ROI for product features and user stories.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer's needs by communicating directly with them to gather Voice of Customer
  • Work to continually re-prioritize the product backlogs of the agile team and content based on customer feedback, market changes and business priority.
  • Work to determine the appropriate sprint content and release dates to manage to release plan.
  • Accept or reject the product teamwork results.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of software development.
  • Work with Senior Technical Product Manager to adhere to a product's budget.
  • Execute on SLAs (support, maintenance and technical)
  • Ownership of release related market communications


Essential Duties and responsibilities:

Product Vision & Backlog Management
  • Works with the Product Manager on product strategy and vision and provides the agile team(s) with clear vision, direction, and priority of the product backlog.
  • Provides input and feedback to the product release plan.
  • Communicates the product release plan to the Agile Team.
  • Partner with Product Managers to determine the best time to release products to customers based on project, internal business, and market data.
  • Provides input for a release management plan to determine what versions of the software will be released, to who and when.
  • Ensures sufficient amount of backlog items are prepared for sprint planning.
  • Identifies and proposes possible solution approach.
  • Determine justification of investment for proposed solution

Liaison & Communication
  • Ably represents, interfaces with, and engages the business user.
  • Ensures the agile team has product representation within their scrum work.
  • Coordinates and interacts with other development resources required to complete overall objectives.
  • Uses clear goals to communicate the project vision at the beginning of every sprint so that the team understands and is equipped to realize it.
  • Makes business decisions and clearly communicates requirements through user stories so they are understood.
  • Communicates status outside the team.

Development
  • Creates, maintains, prioritizes, and sequences the backlog based on business value or ROI.
  • Maintaining, prioritizing and sequencing all product backlogs based on business value or ROI such that the product releases support the customer and product release plan.
  • Creates user stories and acceptance tests from Epics and features granular enough for a single sprint.
  • Provides rapid feedback.
  • Participates in project planning, demos, retrospectives, sprint planning, release planning and other Scrum-related meetings.

Customer Satisfaction
  • Provides the team clear information regarding customers and potential customers including how they use the product, why they use the product, who uses it, when they use it and with whom.
  • Establishes open lines of communication with customers and professional services in order to bridge the relationship between Client product development and the customer.
  • Ensures Client is developing products that exceed customer expectations.
  • Attend strategic VOC meetings and interactions.

Application Support
  • Reviews deliverable and demonstrable code after every sprint and has the authority to accept or reject work.
  • Develops and maintains standards for testing and progress visibility.
  • Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Determines hot fix options and makes proposals to Product Manager.


Education:

BA or BS in relevant field or equivalent work-related experience.
