About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electronic controls for a space-grade defense program. In this role, you’ll take full technical ownership of a high visibility project, guide a team of Electrical Engineers, and ensure smooth coordination across all contributing engineering disciplines.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, influencing product direction, and delivering hardware that performs in the most demanding environments.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end technical execution of a major electronic development effort
- Mentor and develop a team of talented Electrical Engineers
- Oversee design, analysis, prototyping, integration, and test of space qualified electronics
- Ensure hardware integrity through comprehensive verification and qualification
- Own engineering schedules, resource planning, and milestone execution
- Coordinate closely with Cognizant Engineers, systems engineering, and cross functional partners
- Manage project budgets and performance (EVMS/CAM), seeking efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
- Drive engineering process improvements that improve quality, speed, and robustness
- Support customer engagements, technical presentations, and major design reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or project lead role
- Strong background in electronic system development; space grade or high reliability hardware experience is a plus
- Proven leadership, communication, and decision making skills
- Experience with cost account management and budget oversight
- Expertise in design fundamentals, PCB development, and test methodologies
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively across diverse teams
- Active U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- Ability to obtain additional government clearances as needed
