Role Overview:
Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Operations Engineer to support critical infrastructure across a large research campus. This role focuses on electrical power distribution, system upgrades, and infrastructure modernization within the Energy & Utilities division.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical power distribution systems ranging from 608V to 69kV
• Lead and support utility system upgrades and infrastructure modernization
• Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and system evaluations
• Modify and improve existing electrical systems
• Support electrical design for facility and infrastructure improvements
• Conduct and review power system studies and arc flash analysis
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors

Core Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
• 9+ years of experience in electrical power / utilities engineering
• Experience with power distribution systems and infrastructure projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar electrical design tools
• Strong understanding of power system analysis and engineering calculations
• PE license preferred but not required
• U.S. Citizenship required

Must have experience with:

• Power distribution systems
• Utility upgrades
• Infrastructure modernization
• System modifications (not just design-only work)
