Role Overview:
Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Operations Engineer to support critical infrastructure across a large research campus. This role focuses on electrical power distribution, system upgrades, and infrastructure modernization within the Energy & Utilities division.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical power distribution systems ranging from 608V to 69kV
- Lead and support utility system upgrades and infrastructure modernization
- Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and system evaluations
- Modify and improve existing electrical systems
- Support electrical design for facility and infrastructure improvements
- Conduct and review power system studies and arc flash analysis
- Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors
Core Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 9+ years of experience in electrical power / utilities engineering
- Experience with power distribution systems and infrastructure projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar electrical design tools
- Strong understanding of power system analysis and engineering calculations
- PE license preferred but not required
- U.S. Citizenship required
Must have experience with:
- Power distribution systems

- System modifications (not just design-only work)
