This position requires a System Safety Engineer with MBSE experience to collaborate with design teams on vehicle hardware and software systems. Responsibilities include safety analysis, hazard mitigation, and customer documentation throughout the program lifecycle.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Evaluate customer requirements for System Safety and determine vehicle compliance
- Create and support the design of system and software (SW) architectures
- Conduct System Safety analyses to support recommendations for design solutions and changes
- Document analysis reports
- Support System Engineering in the development of the System Specification Document
- Safety requirement management – definition, connectivity, traceability, validation
- Create HTS, PHA, and FHA as required
- Determine compliance with contract and/or System Specification Document
- Develop and submit safety CDRLs to the customer
- Manage end-to-end traceability of hazard mitigations for assigned systems
- Create and manage Human/System Interface Databases, Hazard Logs, and Risk Registers
- Collaborate with HW/SW engineers to identify safety hazards and mitigation strategies
- Conduct Peer Reviews of safety work products before release
- Bachelor's degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering
- 7+ years of system safety experience (advanced degree considered in lieu)
- Experience with safety hazard analysis, safety cases, and mitigation strategies
- ISO 26262 required — pure automotive experience acceptable; Tier 1 supplier background strongly preferred over Big 3 OEM experience
- Experience working within a structured systems engineering environment; MBSE/Cameo exposure preferred
- Familiarity with TeamCenter, JIRA, Confluence, DOORS, or similar
- US security clearance eligibility required (US Citizens only)
